Local boxer Sakaria ‘Desert Storm’ Lukas left over the weekend for Atlantic City, New Jersey, in the United States.
The boxer will be preparing for his showdown with three-time world title challenger from Mongolia, Tugstsogt Nayambayar. on 22 January in a 10-rounder in the featherweight division.
The two will be fighting on Gary Russell Junior and Mark Magsayo’s WBC world featherweight championship title card.
The card will also see the likes of Evan Holyfield going up against Chris Rollins in the super welterweight, as well as Sabriel Matias, who is scheduled to face Petrus Ananyan in the super lightweight division.
Immanuel ‘AC’ Moses, who accompanied Lukas to the States, said it’s going to be a big night for team Global Stars and that they will go all out.
“The boys are back in town; get ready,” he said.
Exceptional form
Lukas has a record of 26 fights, 25 wins - 17 by knockout - and one loss. He has been in exceptional form of late, beating Mexican Marco Chable last year on 3 March. Nayambayar has a total of 14 fights, 12 wins (nine knockouts) and two losses. He was last in action on 3 July 2021 against America’s Chris Colbert, a fight which he lost.
