Namibian boxer Lukas 'Demolisher' Ndafoluma won a ceremonial challenge title and not the WBC International middleweight title over the weekend in Manchester against Craig Cunningham.

The pair faced off on Friday in the first ever inaugural 'UK vs Africa' boxing competition event organised between VIP Boxing, Trident Sports from Manchester, South Africa's Kalakoda Boxing and Kwese Sports.

The boxing match, which was for the WBC title, was no longer on the line due to the fact that the organisation failed to sanction the Namibian's fight due to late arrival.

It is mandatory for every boxer to be weighed three times in 72 hours before a fight as per the boxing rules. Ndafoluma, however, arrived two days late.

It was then decided by the event organisers to create a title for the two boxers to contend for. Cunningham, who tasted bitter defeat, vacated the WBC International middleweight title which means that the two boxers will either have a rematch for the title or the Namibian will face a new challenger early next year.

The Demolisher said he is happy about his win and that he will continue working hard.

“What is mine is mine and I will return next year with the belt,” he promised boxing fans.

His promotor Kiriata Kamanya said fighting outside the country was a great experience for the boxer and that next year every boxer in his stable will get the chance to fight for a title.

The pair faced off on Friday in the 'UK vs Africa' event that took place at Victoria Warehouse in Salford. Ndafoluma looked calm and collected as he eyed his opponent.

A return leg of 'Africa vs UK' is expected to take place in either Namibia or South Africa, in February 2018.

Armas Shivute from Salute Boxing also explained that the reason why only Salute took place in the competition was because they joined hands with Kalakoda Promotions from South Africa and that the competition is their brainchild.

The overall winners of the event were the UK, winning the Kwesé Cup with a 3.5 to 1.5 winning margin in a pulsating encounter.
