De Duine, SSS beat rivals in Classic Clashes

Last weekend De Duine and Swakopmund Secondary School (SSS) came out on tops when they faced their coastal rivals in the FNB Classic Clashes. De Duine beat Namib High 2-0 while SSS triumphed 2-1 over Coastal High in the two football matches played. The De Duine versus Namib High game saw a brilliant display of football skills from both sides. De Duine displayed strategy in front of the goal post and that is what made the difference. In the second game, Coastal High showed aggressive intent from the onset and scored a goal in the first ten minutes. They also created numerous chances that they failed to convert. In the second half SSS changed their tactics and started to dominate the game. As a result they scored two goals in the period that they dominated and that won them the game. Coastal High raised their game again in search of an equaliser but it was not to be. The Namib Mills Heroes of the weekend were Pius Samuel of De Duine, who is his school&rsquo;s head boy and the Walvis Bay Junior Mayor, and Ester Shitana of Coastal High for academics. Jeandre Geibeb of De Duine and Steven Kavani of Coastal High were the FNB Men of the Match. This weekend Kolin Foundation will take on Westside High in Arandis on Friday while on Saturday SI Gobs Secondary School will face Kuisebmond Secondary School at Omaruru. WINDHOEK-SPORT REPORTER
