Davies to work on technical aspects

National rugby coach Phil Davies says the Namibian team needs to polish the technical aspects of the game to become more competitive.
With five months to go before the Rugby World Cup, Davies has his sights set on improving the players and winning every game that comes by.
Some of the players who will be part of the World Cup squad travelling to Japan in September played in the 40-23 defeat against Xerox Golden Lions over the weekend.
Davies admits that more needs be done but he is not worried because there is plenty of time for training.
“I think the players are improving and that was evident in the match against the Lions.
“We however have to improve on the technical aspects of the match, which include our kicking and the way we defend and attack.
“We all know that 22 September is the important date and we have our eyes set on that,” Davies said.
Namibia secured their place at the 2019 World Cup with a comfortable 53-28 win over Kenya in Windhoek last year.
The match was a straight shootout for the Africa Gold Cup title, which determined World Cup qualification.
The side scored seven tries to ensure they topped the table with a perfect 25 points from five matches, picking up try bonuses in all of their matches.
Namibia will play in Pool B alongside New Zealand, South Africa, Italy and Canada at the World Cup. They have played in every Rugby World Cup since 1999 but are yet to win a game at the tournament, losing all 19 of their matches, hence the critical needed for proper preparations this time around.
