David in Next Great Presenter top 3

Namibia’s David Mbeha keeps making strides and has now moved within an inch of clinching a chance to host a show on TLC Africa as well as having that exciting spread in Cosmopolitan. The TLC Next Great Presenter Top Three have been chosen. Following two intense days of boot camp training and various mentorship sessions, TLC revealed the Top Three finalists. The Top Three are Mpiwa Bagwasi from Botswana, Star Khulu from South Africa and our very own David Mbeha. As from October 28, viewers will have the opportunity to choose TLC’s Next Great Presenter by voting for their favourite from the three finalists. The lucky winner will be the channel’s first-ever African presenter and will host TLC TOP 10 – a brand new four-part series show coming to TLC Entertainment (DStv 172) this December. After the 12 TLC Next Great Presenter semi-finalists were chosen, the 12 finalists still had to battle it out by impressing the judges as there can only be one winner. Organisers said the road to stardom won’t be easy for the finalists and they first had to impress a panel of judges in a two-day boot camp that was designed to pick out the best from the great group. During the first two days of the boot camp, the semi-finalists attended mentorship sessions led by industry experts, and had to prove themselves to the judges. The judges for the competition are SuperSport presenter Carol Tshabalala, Cosmo editor Cathy Lund, who says she’s looking for a presenter who is “charismatic, positive, emotive, articulate and polished” and above all “their authentic self”. Also on the panel is TLC’s Lee Hobbs, and media content strategist Aletta Alberts. The judges had the daunting task of narrowing down the semi-finalists to five and then to three. David expressed excitement at being selected. “I am excited to be selected as one of the Top Three by a brand that unapologetically celebrates difference and tells authentic stories. Throughout this whole process TLC has allowed me to be me and I thank them for that. This experience has been humbling and rewarding and I thank everyone for their support so far and I look forward to the next stage,” he said.
