D-Naff shares his soul with inspirational series

Once a gangster, D-Naff wears many hats. He is one of Namibia’s most respected musicians, but is also a father, husband and friend, roles he says he takes very seriously. Years ago, he turned a new page in his life, opting to live a gangster-free life and in recent times, the singer has been determined to inspire and motivate other youth and people to live a more fulfilling and positive life. Recently, he won the most disciplined artist award at the NAMAs, a reminder that one’s past, doesn’t define one’s present.
Now, the singer is sharing the wisdom he has gained from his one story of struggle and triumph, with a new television series. Titled the D-Naff Inspirational Series, the series was produced by Draycott Multimedia for D-Naff Entertainment. The producers explained that the idea behind the inspirational series is to reach as many Namibian people, both young and old, as possible. “What most people don’t know is that D-naff has been a youth leader at church, and he has often shared his story to remind others you can never be too lost to be found. Many look up to him, and he takes his responsibility of being an example of hope to those who take life very seriously,” the producers said. “We need to look up to our own people, celebrate our own people, and draw inspiration from our own stories. D-Naff taps into some of his own life experiences of how he changed his life coming from a violent background, to seeing things differently in life. Therefore, he will be speaking from his very own experiences. These experiences which many hide are vital in shaping the mind-set of the youth, it is also part of giving back. In the end we all want to live a legacy, and when you reach the pinnacle that D-Naff has, giving back is the most noble thing to do,” the producers said.
Topics in the series touch on dreams, finding your identity, the results of fatherless homes and its impact on society at large. The production is up-beat, and shot at familiar places and at popular locations around Windhoek. This was done to make it a truly Namibian Story. The inspirational series is also a build up to D-Naff’s gospel show, which will showcase Namibian Gospel talent, and also have guests who have real stories to tell, people that have managed to turn their lives around.
Speaking to tjil about it, D-Naff said that young people in Namibia need inspiration and he is happy to be part of that. “So many have helped me turn over a new leaf and to find my way. I think it is important that we always try and help others who are losing their way. Whatever little inspiration and motivation we offer, we make the world a better place,” he said.
He told tjil he hopes that more Namibians will share their stories and offer guidance to those in need. “We live in a beautiful country, but we can be better in many regards. We should all do our bit to offer guidance and inspiration and just help ourselves and others to be better people,” he says.
