Airline offers N$90 flight tickets
Budget airline Tiger Airways' website has crashed after it offered US$10 (about N$90) airfares yesterday.
The airline launched its US$10 fare frenzy sale at midday today, one of the biggest sales in its history.
The airfares are available on return trips across 16 routes including Melbourne to Adelaide, Sydney to Cairns and Melbourne to Perth, for travel between certain dates from October to December this year.
But passengers keen to snap up a bargain will have to be patient. news.com.au was unsuccessful when attempting to book a flight on one of the sale routes - Sydney to the Gold Coast.
It appears the site simply couldn't handle the demand, displaying this error message: SORRY! Our online booking site is currently experiencing heavy traffic. Please try again later.
Tiger Airways spokeswoman Vanessa Regan said it was a huge sale.
This would have to be one of the biggest or if not the biggest sale from Tiger Airways ever given the fact that the fares are available on return journeys and across all 16 routes, she said.
It has received an overwhelming amount of interest today and the website is experiencing unprecedented traffic which is causing intermittent access to the website for booking purposes, she added.
We are aware of the situation and our service provider is currently working to rectify the situation as soon as possible.
Resignation letter takes the cake
Sometimes it's just best to say it with cake.
At least, that's what United Kingdom airport worker Chris Holmes was hoping when he tendered his novel resignation letter via cake to his Border Force boss.
He arrived at work as usual on Monday, but bearing the spectacular cake (by all reports, a delicious passion cake) adorned with Mr Holmes' notice in a neatly-piped black letters on white icing.
Having recently become a father I now realise how precious life is and how important it is to spend my time to something that makes me, and other people, happy, he wrote.
I hereby give notice of my resignation, in order that I may devote my time and energy to my family, and to my cake business which has grown steadily over the past few years.
Holmes (or Mr Cake, as he is known to friends and customers), 31, told the Daily Mail the lettering was quite fiddly, but his work management was pleasantly surprised .
I thought it was a good natured resignation and hopefully left a nice taste in their mouths, he said.
I decided that my passion lies with food and wanted to spend more time at home with my son Ben.
Holmes had been running his business on the side for the past few years.
