The Rehoboth Town Council (RTC) has identified risk areas for Covid-19 including shopping malls and banks which will be decontaminated twice a week. According to the head of local authority disaster risk management Dirk Cloete the town is well-prepared and has 4 facilities to cater for isolation and quarantine.
Close to 40 unregistered traders and hawkers in Rehoboth have been closed down. The town’s chief executive officer Simeon Kanime says the construction of an open market will cost N$656 000, but no funds is currently available.
The finance manager of the Rehoboth Town Council Zeino Theron says the collection of revenue has since the lockdown gone down. According to Theron the RTC currently owns Namwater N$3,5 million, while the outstanding amount for Nampower is N$129 million.
