Georgina Kandjeke She is the owner of Foxxy by FoxyGinnah, a fashion line that consists of both couture and ready to wear garments. I design, and tailor the garments so I'm involved in the whole process from beginning to end.“I buy fabric, I draw the pattern from scratch, I cut the fabric, stitch and add any finishing touches. My typical day usually starts with me at fabric stores from as early as 8am, I would either be buying fabric for my clients that come in for custom made garments or checking out the latest prints. I then work through the day and squeeze in consultations, fittings and pickups as well,” she says.Kandjeke has always been fascinated by the fashion industry. She started out as a mode, but seemed to be more interested in the garments. “My mother and grandfather were also tailors so choosing this career was easy,” she adds.She further says that she is fortunate enough to be a very creative person and that she is able to learn on her own, Kandjeke perfected her art by practice. “I studied Human resources management but ended up in the fashion industry instead. I believe I would be far along in my career if I had studied fashion but I'm doing great regardless. I believe practice makes perfect because this is how I perfected my craft, or rather still perfecting because there is no growth in perfect and I for one am still growing,” she explains.
