CCSA pays tribute to football legend

The Central Schools Soccer Association (CCSA) has decided to pay tribute to one of the luminaries of the local game as they will be hosting a tournament named after Ismael Lemmy Narib.
Narib is known as a founder (and later player) of Orlando Pirates Football Club (Namibia) and one of the few Namibians who played for South Africa’s glamour side, Kaizer Chiefs.
To honour his achievements in football, the CCSA will this weekend host the Lemmy Narib Tournament.
It will be hosted at the Dawid Bezuidenhoudt Secondary School in Khomasdal today and tomorrow.
According to a press statement issued by the CCSA, the tournament is named after Narib in recognition of his selfless dedication to youth football in Namibia.
He was part of the group that started the Khomas Youth League in 2005, whose fruits are now visible in the Namibia Premier League and the Brave Warriors.
Narib is still part of the Khomas Football Region setup and is in charge of the Under-20 regional team which participates in the annual The Namibian Newspaper Cup tournament.
It is hoped that the tournament will become an annual feature on the calendar of the CSSA, in addition to the already existing league programme. The draw for the weekend’s tournament took place on Wednesday afternoon.
