Caster takes a wife
Olympic silver medallist Caster Semenya has started the boldest race of her life.
Mzansi’s golden girl has chosen her life partner – and paid lobola for athlete Violet Raseboya.
This was revealed by South African tabloid newspaper the Daily Sun this week, which said that Caster had sent her elders to Violet’s family in Polokwane.
Sources revealed that Caster’s relatives went to visit Violet’s family to negotiate lobola – as both athletes wanted to settle down. It is understood they went to Violet’s family two weeks ago. “Caster’s dad, ntate Jacob Semenya, was accompanied by other family members to negotiate lobola.
Caster had made her intentions clear that she wanted to take Violet as her other half.
“Both families were happy to negotiate lobola and Caster’s family paid R25 000 to have Violet as their makoti,†said an insider.
Preparations for the wedding are apparently underway.
A friend of the couple said Caster and Violet are inseparable.
“They really love each other and this is a bold step for them. They have a bright future together and I believe once they have settled down, they will achieve more in their careers.â€
In a recent interview, Caster was asked which three items she would take if her house was on fire.
She revealed her undying love for Violet and stated that she was her soulmate for life and that is the first person she would think of.
“Actually, my fiancée comes first! I would have to save my fiancée. She’s the most important person in my life.
“Your partner is there for you to support you. She is the first thing that comes to mind,†Caster explained.
When she was called for comment about lobola, Caster’s phone was answered by Violet, who said: “Caster is still in training and you can leave a message so I can pass it on to her.â€
