Call for submissions
Visual artists are asked to submit artwork and stand a chance to have their work displayed at the Booth exhibition next year.
The National Art Gallery of Namibia (NAGN) is calling upon all artists to submit artwork for consideration for the Booth exhibition.
This exhibition will take place in the main gallery of the NAGN where each artist will receive 2x2-square metre of freedom to display their work.
These squares will be demarcated, and artists are invited to intervene in the space in whichever way they choose to. Demarcated areas, grids and boundaries are the make-up of booth. Borders, confines, categories, margins and restrictions are ever-present throughout our daily lives, from the land that we live on to the type of characteristics we are defined by.
Artists are encouraged to take this opportunity to intervene into a delineated physical and conceptual space, working within the boundaries to challenge the boundaries.
Artworks can be 2D, 3D or ephemeral (performance) in nature. Submissions are not limited to Namibian citizens or residents. The submissions should be accompanied by an artist statement about the artwork to the NAGN by 17:00 on Monday 5 February 2018. Selected artworks will be on display in the booth from 20 February to 3 May 2018.
“Artists should kindly note that it is not guaranteed that work submitted for consideration will be selected for exhibition.
Unselected works will need to be collected by the artists once contacted by the NAGN,” said Annapaula Vakamuena from NAGN.
