Boxers in fine shape to impress

Boxers from the MTC Nestor Sunshine Academy are excitedly waiting for March 20 to display their skills at the Ramatex Factory building in Windhoek. This is according to one of the academy’s trainers, Siegfried SBK’ Kaperu, who told Namibian Sun yesterday that the fighters are in prime condition. “Since the turn of the year, we have been working hard to prepare the boys and I can tell you they look great, he said. The March 20 bout will see WBO International lightweight champion Paulus The Hitman’ Moses defending his title against South Africa’s former world champion Malcolm Klassen in the main billing. Kaperu said although the South African is a good fighter, he wouldn’t know what hit him when he touches down in Namibia. “When he comes here, Hitman is going to teach him a boxing lesson, he said. The trainer said Moses is in the best shape of his life. “When I look at his fitness, I can see he is back to his best, he stated. Kaperu - along with the stable’s other trainers, Joseph Hantindi and Imms Moses - coaches a number of other boxers at the academy. Among them are Julius Blue Machine’ Indongo, Immanuel Prince’ Naidjala, Vikapita Beastmaster’ Meroro and Walter The Executioner’ Kautondokwa, who will all feature during Friday’s bouts. Indongo, who is set to face Herbert Nkabiti from Botswana, is on the up and up following some impressive recent victories. Good performances This will continue unabated, Kaperu stated. “Indongo is one of the upcoming stars and a real entertainer, he said. “He is at his best and has delivered some good performances recently. Fans will definitely not be disappointed where he is concerned. Another fighter tipped by the trainer to shine is Naidjala, who is coming off a defeat to South Africa’s Gideon Buthelezi. “We have rectified the mistakes made during that fight and as Prince is one of the most talented boxers in the country, he is set to return to the top. I really feel sorry for his Malawian opponent, he said of Robert Kachiza, who will fight Naidjala over eight rounds in an International bantamweight battle. As for Kautondokwa, the trainer simply warned that the boxer “will show that he can play with the big boys. But he did have a challenge for Meroro, who has been rated as one of the best light heavyweights in the world for a number of years now. “Beastmaster has worked hard but, as he has promised us a knockout, he must now prove that he is hungry to push for a world title. “Now is the time, he said of Meroro’s fight against Patrick Mokala from South Africa. Reaping fruits Kaperu went on to wish boxers from other stables –like Jafet Utoni, Martin Black Poison’ Haikali, Bethuel Tyson’ Uushona, Tommy Hango and Immanuel Mungandjela- all the best during the bonanza. But as for the academy, which is run by Nestor Sunshine’ Tobias, Kaperu said this is the year to reap benefits from the hard work they have done over the years. “This is the year that we want to reap fruits and show that the Sunshine Academy is one of the best, not only in Namibia but the world. In fact, the respect we get from overseas is often more than what we get at home and we want to maintain being the leaders, he said. General tickets that usually sell for N$200 will sell for N$30 while VIP tickets that usually sell for N$1 000 will now sell for N$200. The organisers have vowed that security will be tight. Tickets are on sale at Computicket outlets countrywide. WINDHOEK-HECTOR MAWONGA
