Botes gets Platinum Stars contract extension

WINDHOEK-SPORT REPORTER
Following what is arguably his best season in South Africa's Premier Soccer League (PSL), veteran Brave Warriors' striker Henrico Botes has extended his stay at Platinum Stars for another year.
According to kickoff.com, Botes inked a new one-year deal over the weekend as just reward for a goal-laden season thus far.
I have signed a new one-year contract with the club and I'm very happy to stay. Cavin [Johnson] has done a great job and I'm glad to continue working with him, Botes told kickoff.com.
The Namibian striker has scored crucial goals for Stars this season and was instrumental in the side's surge up the PSL table, with his team currently sitting second in the league - seven points behind leaders Kaizer Chiefs.
Botes, who has scored seven goals in the league and one in the Nedbank Cup, helped Platinum Stars beat Mamelodi Sundowns 2-1 to reach the semi-finals of the knock-out competition on Sunday.
The striker again played the full match for Stars, as the Rustenburg-based side continue to rely on his aerial ability.
His club will next face SuperSport United in the Nedbank Cup after the draw was made yesterday, with Kaizer Chiefs taking on first division outfit, United FC, in the other semi-final.
Botes, who is one of the longest-serving players at the club after joining from Moroka Swallows in 2007, will be in action tomorrow when Stars take on Bidvest Wits, as he has served his two match ban following a red card recently.
The striker will also be expected to play a vital role in Namibia's next 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, as the Brave Warriors are set to travel to Malawi on June 5 before hosting Nigeria on June 12.
