The Responsible Tourism Awards were launched last year at the Namibian Tourism Expo, under the banner of tourismus Namibia.

The three winners in each category win prizes in editorial and advertorial coverage as follows; first prize N$250 000, second prize N$150 000 and third prize N$100 000.
These prizes include N$100 000 in cash for community upliftment in the areas where the winners operate in.
Nedbank Namibia has sponsored N$50 000 for community projects arising from the competition.
It was also decided that as an added bonus to the Responsible Tourism Awards a choir competition will be held to add value and entertainment to the expo with performances by the three lodges that was shortlisted for the most responsible tourism establishment.
Staff members from these lodges performed during three events held at the expo where judging took place.
The winner of the choir competition is in first place Gondwana’s Etosha Safari Camp, with Wolwedans Boulders Camp’s choir coming in second and the Nkasa Lupala Tented Lodge in third place.
