As part of her community project, Miss High School finalist Tylo Blaauw visited Boomerang Kindergarten and the Senior Park old-age home on 29 and 30 November.

Boomerang is located in Katutura and aims is to create a place where kids can enjoy a peaceful childhood. About 60 children who attend the kindergarten received Christmas presents from Blaauw.

During the handover of the gifts, the children enhanced the festive spirit by singing songs. Blaauw educated the children on the importance of Christmas.

“As God gave us the gift of Jesus, we give each other presents on Christmas Day. I gave you this small gift for Christmas, which is like God giving Jesus to the world to die for our sins on the cross, but now you have to remember the real meaning of this gift,” she said.

Before visiting the kindergarten, Blaauw also visited a garden project and planted with the kids.

Boomerang principal Memory !Khamxas said she is grateful for what Blaauw has done for the children.

“It is the little things that matter and I am glad she did put a smile on the children’s faces,” she said.

At Senior Park, which is located in Pioneers Park, Blaauw gave the elderly a box of biscuits each and spoke about her community project.

Ham Haukongo, the caretaker at the old-age home, said they were thankful for the visit.

He also urged Blaauw to continue helping people in the community, who are in need.

The elderly were excited to spend time with her. Blaauw plans on visiting them again.

The crowning of Miss High School and the Chamber Choirs competition is scheduled to take place on 30 May 2019.
