Being intentional all year
Octavia Tsibes
As I reflected about my year and what went wrong in 2020, I have come to the realisation that I have not been intentional about the goals and targets I set for myself. This has led me to making financially unsavvy decisions and just ‘going with the flow.’ In order for me to truly reach my potential and smash my goals, intention was the key word I have highlighted and it will be my motto in 2021.
My financial discipline and actively working towards my academic goals are my biggest targets this year and the best way to achieve this? Yes, I have guessed it: being intentional! One of my favourite character traits about myself is how I always plan every little thing and even though I might get thrown off here and there, there is nothing more satisfying than writing down your plans and seeing them come to life. However, I slacked last year in terms of going after everything I want wholeheartedly.
Yes, life is what you make of it and sometimes, the most unexpected things may bring you the most joy, but there is also nothing wrong with having a plan for the year. Your goals don’t always have to be many and that is also something I have realised this year. Usually I would set 10 to 15 goals each year, but this year I chose only five. Simply because I am in a better position than I was last year and the areas of improvement have become fewer. Although 2020 was a year of a lot of failed plans for others, I have definitely grown as an individual. I have learned to be more appreciative of those around me, not to take love for granted and to always spend quality time with family and loved ones. I have also learned that pride is not the answer to dealing with uncomfortable situations and to always speak your heart no matter how difficult it may be. These are all goals I need to be intentional about it. As a woman, we are so used to being pursued that we sometimes forgot we should also chase what we want, even though it is not the norm, and pride plays a very big role in this. It leaves us with nothing but regrets in the end.
In terms of financial discipline, I have been reckless with my money and I realise that all the little spending sprees over the month will result in large lumps of money that could have been used more smartly. I would like to purchase copies of different financial books to just show the universe how serious I am in spending sparingly and reaching those little financial wins. Little financial tips have also helped me immensely and saving the little I can for rainy days is also as important. I have also followed a number of financial experts’ pages on social media platforms as I figured I might as well put my platforms to good use and ensure I am educated while being entertained as well.
I have a really good feeling about this year and I trust this year will bring the breakthrough I so badly want. Breakthroughs in all areas of my life. My positive mind will attract all these goals to come to life so manifestation is a key player in the regard.
Let us remember to be intentional in all that we do and pray for the greatest outcome.
