Beer and conservation headed for NBC

Local television viewers will soon witness a new collaboration involving the country’s famous Windhoek Lager beer brand and wildlife conservation organisation N/a’an ku sê. The two brands have joined together to produce a new television series set for broadcast on the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation (NBC) and focusing on showcasing local conservation heroes. The show, ‘Wild Jobs Namibia’ was launched officially earlier this month at a screening for Minister of Environment and Tourism Pohamba Shifeta, Deputy Director of the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Florence Haifene, and delegates of the Namibia Film Commission. The programme was shot entirely on location in Namibia, and will feature N/a’an ku sê Foundation founders Marlice and Dr Rudie van Vuuren as presenters. “Namibia hosts some of the world’s most unique wild animals that contribute greatly to the list of the country’s national treasures,” Namibia Breweries Limited (NBL) Marketing Manager Rosemary Shippiki said of the new show. “Its rich cultural heritage and unique traditions, landscape and hospitality speak for themselves on the global front, with consistent high tourist numbers. “The efforts embarked on by locals to preserve the country’s wildlife is adored and praised by global stakeholders. And what contributes to this reality is the efforts made by locals, some of whom are stand-outs in this area with initiatives that have grown to become global brands in their own right,” she said. The ICT Ministry’s Haifene praised the show’s ambitions in promoting vital conservation issues and bringing these to the attention of local viewers. Besides N/a’an ku sê, ‘Wild Jobs Namibia’ also enjoys support from Gondwana Collection, Namibia Wildlife Resorts, Wilderness Air and Wilderness Safaris. STAFF REPORTER
