BBA’s Namibian housemates contemplate reunion show
Former Big Brother Africa housemate Meryl Mwampamba says although she loves the show, she won’t return - even if she is asked to come back this season.
Meryl was reacting to growing speculation that this year’s edition of the reality TV show will be a ‘reunion’, in which former housemates will compete.
“I don’t think I would want to leave my babies and husband to return to the show. Motherhood and being a wife are my two most important roles right now. Still, I would watch a reunion,†she says.
Meryl is the only Namibian housemate to have been on the show twice. She appeared in Big Brother Africa: Back to Basics and returned for Big Brother Africa All Stars.
Jessica Shikeva, who was part of Big Brother Africa StarGame alongside her friend Junia Cloete and Lady May, is also not keen on returning to the show. “I am extremely busy at this stage and I am working on some other projects, so it’s a bad time to return, but I would love to watch a reunion though,†she says.
Junia Cloete said although she loves BBA, the experience shouldn’t be repeated. “You can only live it once. Big Brother Africa is an absolutely amazing experience and I love the house, but I think someone brand new should have that experience,†she says.
Bernadine Buys, who represented Namibia alongside radio personality Jossy Joss during Big Brother Amplified in 2011, would love to return if it fits into her busy schedule.
“I love the show. I am still in contact with a few friends that I made on the show, including Karin from Nigeria. If they ask me to return and it fits into my schedule, I will definitely return,†she said.
Namibia’s Lady May could not be reached for comment.
Discussions on one of the BBA Facebook forums showed that fans are keen to have last year’s Namibian housemate Maria Nepembe back.
Junia is also a favourite.
Others would love to see Lady May return, with many still remembering how she did her morning exercises in her heals.
MultiChoice Namibia spokesperson Katrina Sikeni said at this stage talk of a reunion show is just speculation.
“What I can confirm is that Big Brother Africa will be back again later this year, and when it is launched, I will provide you with all the relevant information.â€
