BBA plot thickens as Nando is disqualified

WindhoekGordon Joseph It's been a drama-filled weekend for Big Brother Africa: The Chase viewers and housemates. The drama that unfolded was as unexpected as Meryl and Mowisho's engagement in Big Brother Africa All Stars, as shocking as the show's perennial sexual antics and as surprising as when housemates realised that Eddie and Erastus were twins. This past Sunday, Kenya's Annabel and Zambia's Sulu were evicted from The Chase. Sadly, their evictions were as forgettable as that of former Namibian housemates Lucille and Jossy Joss combined. Anyway, Annabel was the first to be evicted this Sunday, after she only managed to garner three countries' votes - Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda. Sulu's eviction drew a lot of controversy, with many calling the voting system a scam. Sulu and Ghana's Elikem both received six country votes, but after the tie-breaker rules were applied, Sulu was told to bounce. According to others, both evicted housemates had overstayed their welcome and will not be missed. However, it was Tanzanian Nando's disqualification that drew all the attention over the weekend. Big Brother punished Nando for a verbal battle he had with Elikem on Friday. The confrontation saw the two studs exchanging heated words, with Nando being blamed for instigating the incident. Instigation and provocation is a violation of the Big Brother rules. "Any housemate who becomes physically violent will be removed from the house immediately. Violence can refer to self-inflicted violence or violence toward another. Violence includes provocation, goading, bullying and victimisation," Big Brother later said. This season Big Brother has imposed the 'three-strike rule'. For their verbal jousting, Nando received his second strike and Elikem was served with his first strike. Afterwards, the Tanzanian was called into the diary room, where he was given his third strike for making threats against Elikem's life after he said: "I feel like stabbing him. A nigga like that deserves to die." Nando was also caught sleeping with scissors under his bed. It is not the first time that he has been caught with a weapon in the house. Last month he was served with a strike and a stern warning from Big Brother, after he was found carrying a knife to the Channel O Party. After the diary session, Nando was told to immediately exit the house. Big Brother then gave a warning to the remaining housemates to conduct themselves as adults. Last year Ghana's DKB and Sierra Leone's Zainab were also disqualified after a confrontation between them turned violent. At the time Big Brother organisers promised to provide both housemates with a counsellor to assist them with their anger issues. It's not clear if Nando will be provided with the same assistance.
