Athletes Forum to inspire

Namibia's elite athletes, representing various sporting disciplines, are ready to educate and inspire at the first-ever Athletes Forum.

The Namibia Athletes Commission (NAC), under the auspices of the Namibia National Olympic Committee and Commonwealth Games Association (NNOC-CGA), will host the inaugural forum tomorrow.

The event will take place at Nust Auditorium 1 in Windhoek.

In partnership with the sports ministry, the Namibia Sports Commission (NSC) and Nust, this one-day event aims to educate elite and high-performance athletes and serves as a platform to gather relevant information on how they can improve in their quest for excellence.

Speaking on behalf of the NAC, chairperson Gaby Ahrens said that the forum is an important platform to address pertinent issues facing athletes and all other performance-related factors.

“This initiative is not only aimed at providing information, but at encouraging athletes to become involved in their development, while understanding their role and the role of their coaches in preparing for future international competitions.

“With the assistance of well-known international speakers, representing multiple areas of expertise in sport, athletes will learn anti-doping rules and regulations, understand the importance of sport psychology, and be introduced to career options available to retired athletes through sport management degrees offered by Nust,” said Ahrens.
