All-round fun at volleyball
Come rain or shine, these teams were ready and geared up for the biggest volleyball tournament of the year.

Not even a forecast of rain could dampen the spirits of the more than 1 000 volleyball players that competed in the DTS Volleyball for All tournament on Saturday.
The rain stopped as the whistle for the first game blew and the wet ground and balls made for a good warm-up session.
“It is always so much fun to participate,” Lize Ackerman told Namibian Sun. Their team have been participating for a couple of years now.
For other avid players it's a good way to see how they fare against their peers, while not being too competitive. During the event, one team was already discussing outfit ideas for next year, proving that this event attracts big crowds who just want to have some fun.
Thanks to the impressive number of participants, the event is considered the biggest volleyball tournament in southern Africa, an accolade it has enjoyed for decades.
According to the chairperson of the Namibia Beach Volleyball Academy and tournament director, James Verrinder, this much-anticipated annual event began its journey with only 34 participating teams. Three years later, when it attracted 90 teams, the tournament was moved to the Deutscher Turn- und Sportverein (DTS) to coincide with the club's quarter-century anniversary. The DTS has served as home ground for the event since then.
“It's all about sport, fun and having a good time with friends, family and colleagues,” Verrinder said. Even more so since it has attracted 240 teams every year for the past six years.
“Unfortunately we are unable to exceed this mark at this stage due to resource constraints,” he said.
An event of this magnitude would not be possible without sponsors.
“We are very excited that our main sponsor, Windhoek Draught, is still on board, along with Radiowave as media partner and NHP that decided to continue their co-sponsorship,” Verrinder said.
Namibia Breweries' Windhoek Draught brand has been a staunch supporter of the tournament since 2001 and especially since taking over as main sponsor a decade ago.
