Action Nigga among Kavango plane crash victims
The Angolan music industry is in mourning after confirmation that one of that country’s most popular rapper’s Action Nigga was one of the 33 people who died in a plane crash in Kavango, Namibia at the weekend.
According to Angola’s Ministry of Culture, Action Nigga’s death has left a void in the country’s music industry.
Acton Nigga, whose real name is José Pascoal Luvualu, died last Friday when a Mozambique Airlines flight crashed near the Muwyembo border post in the Bwabwata National Park.
The plane was on its way to Angola. All 27 passengers and six crewmembers were killed.
Angolan online publication ANGOP reported that Angolan Minister of Culture, Rosa Cruz e Silva, said in a note: "At this moment of mourning and grief, I extend sympathy on behalf of all ministries’ workers to the bereaved families and to all Angolan artistsâ€.
Action Nigga was involved in a number of cultural activities. He was a member of Genesis music group, along with Punidor, and was very popular in Angola.
He was in Mozambique with another Angolan artist known as JD. The two are said to have gone to shoot a music video. JD, however, attended the Channel O Africa Music Awards over the weekend and thus was not on the flight back to Angola.
Aviation experts from Namibia, Botswana, Mozambique, Angola and Brazil flew to the Bwabwata National Park yesterday to investigate the cause of the plane crash.
