A connector of positive change

MARISELLE STOFBERGZenaune Kamberipa aspires to “make an impact that matters” in everything he does. “That is a slogan that I learned on my journey, and somehow it speaks to me. I enjoy spending time with my partner, son, the family at large, and my Bonsmara cattle. They are my source of true happiness and equilibrium.”Kamberipa was born at Otjiwarongo in 1988 and is the second youngest of eight siblings. He started school at Okakarara Primary School and completed high school at Concordia College in Windhoek. After matriculating in 2004, he was fortunate enough to receive a bursary from Rossing Uranium, making it possible for him to attend Wits University, where he completed a bachelor’s degree in accountancy. “While at university, I applied to Deloitte Johannesburg to complete my articles as I was interested in deepening my financial services exposure. After qualifying as a chartered accountant, I decided to return home and join Deloitte Namibia, who negotiated to take over my bursary obligation from Rossing Uranium.”Kamberipa worked for Deloitte as an audit manager for three and a half years working on predominantly financial services clients. In 2016, he joined FirstRand Namibia as the group finance manager before embarking on his new journey this year, as Bank Windhoek’s chief financial officer. “My role entails responsibility for all aspects of finance and contribution to strategy execution. In this challenging environment, the key goal for me is to ensure we are prudent in where we spend and ensuring that we continue investing in emerging from a position of strength when the tide turns,” Kamberipa says. “I have been fortunate that I had mentors and managers who ensured that I got exposure to all aspects of finance and guided me to enhance my appreciation of the roles and duties. I am thankful for their wisdom, which has ensured that the journey that I am embarking upon is purposeful.” Kamberipa is currently in the final stages of completing a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with the University of Stellenbosch. Thus far, he has spent his entire career in the financial industry and brings with him a wealth of experience from which Bank Windhoek will only be able to gain.“In my new role at Bank Windhoek, I look forward to implementing and driving the financial strategy and partnering with the other business units to achieve the bank’s strategy,” Kamberipa says.His favourite part of the job is imagining the future and making that vision and aspiration a reality. “The other is creating an environment where everyone can grow and reach their potential; however, they define it. I hope to continue to play my part as a connector of positive change, not only within the bank but also Capricorn Group and all our stakeholders and our customers,” Kamberipa says. His ability to understand content quickly and bringing out the best of the teams he works with are valuable assets to this new position. “I believe that combination should set us up for success as a finance function in Bank Windhoek.”From a young age, Kamberipa has always been a success-driven individual, a characteristic instilled by his father and elder brother. “I try to remain humble in my journey because I realise that career success is just one aspect of one’s life; there is a lot more to it. I learn from everyone I engage with; sometimes I may not agree at that particular moment, but I will certainly reflect on the conversation after the event. Finally, I never forget where I come from.”
