The 2020 Namibia Tourism Expo will take place from 4 to 7 November 2020 at the SKW sports grounds in Windhoek.
The organisers take cognisance of the Covid-19 pandemic which has brought most economies to a standstill, Namibia being no exception.
The expo, which continues to be the biggest tourism event in Namibia, brings together tourism stakeholders from Namibia and neighbouring countries. The 22nd edition of the Namibia Tourism Expo will be held under the theme 'Renewable Energy'.
“Continuity is essential at this crucial moment for our destination and the upcoming Tourism Expo, which will be at a much smaller scale, will create a platform for the tourism sector to have discussions around continuity of tourism in Namibia, as well as ensuring our visitors that Namibia is still the most sought-after tourism destination,” says Maggy Mbako, public relations executive of Namibia Media Holdings.
“We equally believe that this is the time that southern Africa has to join hands in marketing the region as one destination, this year's expo will see the launch of 'Tourism - 10 Degrees South', an event that will aim at promoting southern Africa. The success of this strategy will depend on how the decision-makers will iron out issues of cross-border permits.
“The Namibia Tourism Expo has seen sustained growth in the number of exhibitors and visitors since its inception.
“As organisers, the success of the expo is measured by the quality of the exhibitors and consequently the number of visitors that enters the show ground gates each year.
“At this time of Covid-19, we are inviting and encouraging the members of the tourism sector to reach out to the expo organisers to bring about topics of discussions that will bring about the revival of the sector that still have the opportunity of creating more jobs in Namibia,” Mbako said.
