Sixteen people survived an accident after the Quantum minibus they were travelling in overturned on the Otjiwarongo-Kalkfeld main road on Friday.

Spokesperson of the Namibian police force in the Otjozondjupa Region, Inspector Maureen Mbeha, told Nampa on Saturday that the incident occurred at around 18h30, when the 35-year-old male driver of the minibus allegedly hit a kudu, causing the vehicle to overturn before landing on its roof.

The occupants, she said, managed to exit through the windows of the bus and sustained slight to serious injuries. They were transported to the Otjiwarongo State Hospital where they received medical attention.

The white minibus was coming from the direction of Otjiwarongo towards Kalkfeld at the time of the incident.

Police investigations continue.
