//Kharas appoints technical team
The //Kharas Region has appointed a technical team to prepare its under-20 football team for the 2020 edition of the Namibian Newspaper Cup. The tournament is slated for 10 to 13 April and will take place at Oshakati in the Oshana Region.
The technical team was appointed last week following a decision by the //Kharas Football League executive committee meeting held on 25 January.
Suzel Cloete will serve as the head of delegation to the tournament; with Neville Willemse as the team's head coach, deputised by Collin Motinga, and Tuhafeni Fillipus as the fitness coach. Daniel Baisako will serve as the technical advisor, while Lionel Afrikaner will handle the team's logistics, with Pinah Vries taking up the team manager position and Roberto Cooper taking charge as kit manager. Rodney Vries and Fritimberus Haman will serve as medical and public relations officers respectively. Speaking to Nampa on Tuesday, //Kharas League secretary Emrico Blaauw said the region plans to defend the Newspaper Cup with the talent it has identified.
“We still have 14 players from last year's winning team and will still bring in a few. Some players from the Skorpion Zinc winning team of 2018 will be added and we believe that we will have a formidable team again this year,” Blaauw added. He said after the meeting with the //Kharas governor on Wednesday, the technical team will come up with an action plan to start preparations.
//Kharas defeated Otjozondjupa 2-1 in the final of last year's edition of the annual tournament held at Mariental in the Hardap Region.
