ANC leads with 50% of votes counted
The African National Congress (ANC) has garnered over 4.2 million of the close to 7.6 million votes already counted in the South African general election. With 50% of the votes counted, the Democratic Alliance (DA) has 1.7 million votes, followed by Julius Malema’s Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), which has so far grabbed over 700 000 or 9.5% of the total vote. Counting continues and the full result is expected tomorrow morning for both the parliamentary and provincial seats.
