Thriving through purpose and professionalism at GIPF
New administrative assistant shares insights from her first months on the job
Joining a new workplace is often a mix of excitement and adjustment, but for Tresia Hafete, an Administrative Assistant at the Government Institutions Pension Fund (GIPF), the transition has been both empowering and inspiring. Her journey with GIPF began in May 2025, and in just a short time, she has embraced her role with clarity, dedication, and a proactive mindset.
“From the onset, I have felt welcomed by a supportive team and an organisational culture that values professionalism, service excellence, and growth,” she said, reflecting on her first days. The on boarding process, she added, was smooth and informative, providing a strong foundation to align with GIPF’s broader strategic goals.
Her day-to-day responsibilities form the backbone of the Client Services division. From managing correspondences and scheduling meetings to organising files and liaising with stakeholders, she plays a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of departmental activities.
What sets her apart is her unique approach to work, which centres on attentiveness, consistency, and initiative. “I believe in staying organised and anticipating needs before they arise,” she explained. This method has earned her the trust of her team and has enabled her to handle multiple responsibilities efficiently, even as a newcomer. Her commitment to continuous learning and self-improvement further enhances her contributions.
When asked what environment allows her to flourish, she highlights GIPF’s structure and culture. “I perform at my best in environments that are structured yet collaborative,” she said. “Having access to resources, supportive colleagues and clear expectations helps me stay focused and motivated.”
In the earliest weeks of her tenure, she began to mark her presence with tangible accomplishments. Among them was the successful facilitation of internal requisitions for her division an effort that refined operational workflows and enhanced tracking mechanisms. Just weeks into the role, she also helped coordinate a key internal workshop, handling logistical demands with notable efficiency. “These accomplishments have given me confidence,” she said.
Of course, no transition comes without its challenges. For her, it was initially navigating the internal systems and understanding the organisational structure. However, she credits her team for helping her quickly adapt. “With the support of my supervisor and colleagues, I was able to overcome this quickly,” she said.
Importantly, she affirmed that GIPF promotes a healthy work-life balance. “The work schedule is manageable, and there is a clear understanding of boundaries between work and personal time,” she stated, adding that the emphasis on employee wellness has made a real difference in her early experience.
As she continues to settle into her role, this Administrative Assistant represents the values that GIPF champions: commitment, excellence, and the willingness to grow with purpose.
