Striving for constant improvement

Sharpening her skills

Gayle Mudjanima joined Broll Namibia, one of the country’s leading property companies offering a wide range of services, in September 2022 as a junior property manager trainee. "I applied for this position after seeing an advertisement on the O&L corporate website. I was later shortlisted for the interview, in which, despite being anxious, I managed to keep it together. That’s what we women are good at, right?" She prompted. A few days later, she got a call saying that she was a successful candidate.

Longevity

Mudjanima has been in the property industry for over four years, accumulating junior-level experience in property management, office administration, business administration, and marketing. Before being entrusted with the property manager position at Broll Namibia, Gayle was a leasehold clerk at the City of Windhoek. She joined them in 2018 under the Property Management Department and left for greener pastures at the end of 2022.

Avoiding naysayers

Mudjanima was born and raised in Tsumeb, where she was brought up by her grandmother, Victoria Namoloh. Having left home for a better education at Dunesig Secondary School in Walvis Bay, she matriculated in 2015.

Thereafter, she pursued property studies at the Namibia University of Science and Technology, majoring in property valuation and management.

"While studying, I received numerous negative comments. I was told it was not a good field and that I would not get a job," she said. Despite these comments, Gayle persevered and graduated with an honours degree in 2021. She said property studies offer a variety of opportunities, including being self-employed or having a part-time job. These include property development, property valuation, and realtors.

Always happy and friendly

Mudjanima describes a typical day at Broll Namibia as busy, with a phone that is constantly ringing, keeping her on her toes. However, she embraces it as she gets to learn a lot. Being friendly, prompt, and helpful towards her colleagues and clients has helped her build great relationships with them.

With every workplace prone to challenges, she said she always keeps a positive attitude. This allows her to create a healthy workplace environment in which she can thrive. "There are no limits to the capabilities of a positive mind," she said.

Being valued and appreciated is one of her greatest motivators for working harder for the company. Even with her property studies complete, she still plans on going bigger and perfecting her skills in the property arena.
