Overachiever Chingufo takes on senior IT manager role
Albertina Chingufo is the newly appointed senior IT manager at the Motor Vehicle Accident (MVA) Fund.
As a senior manager, she is expected to manage IT hardware, software, network infrastructure, business application analysis and support, software development, IT strategy development and implementation, while ensuring IT governance compliance, managing IT service provider relationships and managing IT projects.
"What has so far been a very splendid journey filled with so many expectations with the MVA started on 1 August. I am so excited and always looking forward to each day at work, my heart almost skips a beat. The culture, the technology acceptance and the desire to create a pedestal for the organisation among all employees is so compelling. Very commendable! “

Chingufo is a mother, wife and aunt to the cutest bunch of nieces and nephews who secretly remind her that she is their favourite.
"Aside from being a mother, I spend a lot of time engaging with the community through religious organisations, pointing the lost to the cross and showing hope to the hopeless, but as my responsibilities grew, I found myself frequently keeping my kids busy, guiding them that 'every moment is a teaching moment', preparing them to be outstanding citizens rooted in Christ!"
She grew up in Windhoek and went on to pursue her first diploma in office administration. Thanks to her meticulous work ethic, she climbed the ranks quickly and longed for what was always in her heart, technology.
During her tertiary education at the Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST), she pursued IT to the level of a master's and is currently a PhD candidate.
"I have accrued several years of experience in this field and have been able to meet and deal with a vast range of tasks/projects that make me indispensable within the field. I am a positive, forward-thinking individual and able to use my tenacious ways to ensure resilient results," she said.
On duty
The position provides her with a platform to freely exercise her skills, knowledge and expertise, allowing her to reach deeper for more knowledge and thus flourish. In contrast, the IT terrain is very susceptible to change, changes that are often volatile, and it is therefore imperative to pay close attention to details surrounding one's day-to-day activities, she said.
“ I could write a book on all of my IT accreditations, certificates, IT project management, people skills and expertise that I have obtained over the years, but I believe that what really stands out is who I have become as a result of overcoming many obstacles and emerging victorious. They have taught me to be steadfast and rooted”.
Chingufo describes the MVA Fund as a "close, neat family" where everyone knows everyone and feels comfortable shouting out as if they were in primary school together. She does, however, describe her first 30 days as fast-paced, having to master people's names and faces. "My sincere apologies if I still stare for minutes unending as I search my database for a name."
