Building brands beyond borders
From a young age, Hennie Geldenhuys displayed a natural instinct for sales and marketing, a talent likely inherited from his entrepreneurial father, Geldenhuys said. His early ventures included selling biltong door to door and setting up a pop up makeup stall at the girls’ hostel during lunch breaks, he said. His career took an international turn during a gap year in the United Kingdom, where he worked in banking and casino environments, Geldenhuys said. However, the corporate finance world did not match his energy, and he soon returned to the field he truly belonged in, marketing and sales, he said.
As the Director of Synergi Marketing in Namibia and South Africa, Geldenhuys said he oversees a diversified media ecosystem built on storytelling, brand building and market disruption. Synergi is a multifaceted powerhouse made up of several divisions: Synergi Marketing, focused on media buying and strategy; Synergi Creative, home to brand defining campaigns; Synergi Impact, specialists in out of home and below the line advertising; Synergi Events, delivering high end experiences; and Synergi Africa, which drives cross border expansion, he said.
