From pageant pressure to business success

After spending over a decade in the beauty and fashion industry, Bobby Kaanjosa has made a move into the corporate world, successfully applying his previous experience to his brand-new role. He was appointed to Meatco Wholesale in Windhoek in August last year.“Sales and marketing found me,” Kaanjosa shared. “I initially studied for a diploma in banking and finance, but my passion for the beauty industry led me to explore marketing and promotions. I even studied fashion, lifestyle and styling for six months, which helped me understand sales in a different way.”For over ten years, Kaanjosa worked in various fields of the beauty industry, focusing on promoting models, fashion and styling. However, stepping into the corporate world was a major shift. “It’s been a rollercoaster of emotions,” he said. “Coming from the beauty space, this is a completely different environment. But the principles of selling remain the same whether it’s fashion or meat; it’s about attracting customers, engaging with people, and understanding their needs.”Despite the challenges of moving into a new industry, Kaanjosa has embraced his role at Meatco. “Being able to attach myself to a big empire like Meatco and contribute positively is a huge achievement for me,” he said. “One of my proudest moments was invoicing my first million. Bringing the company such a huge amount felt like a major milestone.”Looking ahead, Kaanjosa envisions a future of growth and innovation. “For me, it’s about learning, exploring, and making a difference within the next ten years,” he said. “I come from the beauty and fashion space, and I try to bring in my experience to make positive changes in every role I take on.”
