For the love of looking good
Fashion enthusiast makes passion permanent
It is no secret that looking good leads to feeling good. This is certainly the case for 32-year-old fashion enthusiast Iyaloo Hamukwaya, who “loves a good outfit”.
Hamukwaya is one of five former MTC Windhoek Fashion Week interns who have joined the team on a permanent basis, trailblazing the Namibian fashion industry.
“Fashion has always been fascinating to me. I decided to intern at the MTC Windhoek Fashion Week just to try it out. It turned out to be a great experience that led to me to wanting to stay,” the fashion enthusiast explained.
Hamukwaya, who is currently responsible for social media management and any other marketing tasks, is actively working towards obtaining her bachelor degree in human resources at the Namibian University of Science and Technology (NUST). Furthermore, she has hopes of pursuing a degree in marketing once she has completed her current course.
The ambitious Hamukwaya’s interest in the fashion industry has never been a secret as her sister and confidant, Anna Hamukwaya, explained to Careers that she always had a distinct dress sense and taste when it came to fashion that set her apart.
“She has always been interested in fashion and is always keeping up with what is trending in the fashion industry, what events are happening both nationally and internationally. So, her current position is definitely well suited for her,” she said.
Described as a woman of few words and many actions, Hamukwaya’s supervisors have indeed been pleased by her tenacious nature when it comes to resolving problems.
“When she speaks, everyone listens because she isn’t a talker but someone who‘s very hands on, a doer indeed. She has a very good eye for content as a social media manager for MTC Windhoek Fashion Week. She has contributed to the impact we have made online and keeping our online family entertained and informed. She has an eagle eye on our social media,“ her marketing supervisor, Kalistu Mukoroli, said.
