Feeding souls through music

Desmarius Hansen
From a young age, Litisha knew music was her true calling. “I could sing before I could talk,” she shares. The love and encouragement she received through music inspired her to keep expressing who she is and to pursue her passion seriously.

Litisha describes her sound as heavenly, unique, natural and authentic. Her music reflects her roots, drawing inspiration from her upbringing and the vibrant community around her. Every song she creates carries honesty and emotion, echoing the beauty of Namibia’s diverse soul.

For Litisha, music flows through intuition and feeling rather than strict structure. “I receive the idea by being an open channel. I don’t think it; I feel it. I trust the melody of my heart to lead me to the beat,” she explains. Each song begins as a spark of emotion and transforms into a full sonic adventure as she brings her ideas to life.

Memorable moments

One of Litisha’s most unforgettable experiences came in 2022 when she headlined her first show at the Franco-Namibian Cultural Centre. “It was as if time stood still. My community was singing my unreleased lyrics with me; aunties were dancing on tables - it was crazy!” she recalls. That performance reaffirmed her purpose as an artist: “Namibian people are hungry for music, and I’m here to feed souls.”

Like many artists, Litisha has faced moments of uncertainty and self-doubt. “I overcame my confusion by seeking truth, not other people’s opinions. I move forward through fear, stage by stage, song by song,” she says.

Her determination and authenticity continue to guide her artistic journey.

At the heart of Litisha’s music lies a simple yet powerful message: love. “What’s next is me giving the love I talk about through the music and establishing myself as a Namibian independent vocalist, songwriter, guitarist and recording artist.”

Through every note and lyric, Litisha Coetzee continues to inspire hope, healing and connection - one song at a time.
