Taking leadership strides

Evelina Hiyonanye
Leadership is the act of leading a group of people or an organisation. It is not an easy task, but with the right mindset for leading your people from point A to point B, everything is possible.

I remember it like it was just yesterday. My position as head girl allowed me to instil a sense of patriotism in me.

Not only did I become more courageous, but I also grew in strength to face all possible difficulties at the school.

Considering myself to be at the forefront of girls who have the potential to reach their dreams is more important than being considered a normal leader.

Under my leadership, I've witnessed the school flourish in different directions. I also led by example.

With my educational journey coming to an end, I made it a point to engage in extracurricular activities while still excelling in my academic performance. Apart from leading, the aim is to inspire and motivate, and I must say I have received positive feedback from certain individuals.

Coastal High's support has been my greatest motivation to keep going and never give up on this position, despite difficulties arising occasionally.

The 2023 learners representative council implemented a 'school cell', where we get together as a school and pray, something I am proud to be a part of. We really reached for the stars, as our school motto states.

All in all, I couldn't have made it without my team, my supportive principal and my teachers. It was indeed a busy year and the experience of a lifetime. Coastal High, I salute you!
