Windhoek Gymnasium has taken a bold step into the world of student media with the official launch of its very own school radio station, Red Aloe Radio.

The announcement was made during a celebratory event held on campus, where ten enthusiastic learners received certificates in recognition of their roles as the station’s first aspiring broadcasters.

The station’s name, Red Aloe Radio, was officially revealed during the ceremony. With the motto “It’s a joy to be a Gimmie,” the initiative is set to promote school spirit, communication skills, and creative expression among students.

The first test broadcast is scheduled for 16 May, marking the beginning of a new and exciting journey for learners and the broader school community.

This milestone would not have been possible without the dedication of staff members and media mentors who have supported the project from its early stages. Special thanks were extended to the school’s Executive Head, Colette Rieckert, for her leadership and vision in driving this innovative platform forward.

The launch of Red Aloe Radio has been described as a proud moment for the school, a space where learners can grow their confidence, explore storytelling, and connect with their peers in a meaningful way.
