Journey to being a spokesperson

My name is Shaan Semba I am a third-year communication student at the Namibia University of Science and Technology (Nust). I am currently working as a radio producer for Uitani Chilline radio at Lifeline Childline Namibia, where I have been ever since I was in grade five. I started off in the radio department at the age of 11 and worked there until I turned 18.This has been such an amazing experience, which has added to the great individual that I am today.I have been in the media scene for so many years now. However, I did not envision myself staying there for long, hence why I decided to study communication.I always envisioned myself in a pantsuit, sitting in an office and being responsible for a company’s communication. I would love to be a public relations officer so that I can directly align a company with the community that it is supposed to serve.In my time at Lifeline Childline, I have made this possible just by assisting with the handling of the organisation’s social media.This way, I am able to inform and communicate with the community about the amazing services that they have to offer. I have also volunteered at the organisation as a volunteer counsellor for two years before officially becoming the radio producer for the radio show.My time at university has been quite interesting. I do not think I will complain much about it, as I feel there is nothing you will do in life without going through a little bit of a struggle. I feel when you are in varsity and you see your vision and what you would like to achieve, it will make your journey so much easier.I must say, it was definitely weird being a first-year on the computer, if you know what I mean.Experiencing the difficulties of online classes first hand was, for me, one of the biggest difficulties, but I definitely pushed through. I am really excited about my varsity journey and I cannot wait to see what life after graduation has to offer me.
