Head leaders represent WTHS at Commonwealth Youth Dialogue

Windhoek Technical High School’s head girl, Iyaloo Namene, and head boy, Kakuka Kazapua, had the honour of representing their school at the Commonwealth Youth Consultative Dialogue, hosted at the Windhoek Country Club in August 2025.The five-day event, themed “Reimagining Youth Leadership: Strengthening Systems for Sustainable Impact,” brought together LRC representatives from Namibian schools and youth delegates from across the Commonwealth. Distinguished guests included Namibia’s Minister of Education Sanet Steenkamp, Fiji’s Minister for Youth and Sports, Jese Saukuru, and Namibia’s Prime Minister, Elijah Ngurare.From 4 to 8 August, delegates took part in discussions, workshops and cultural exchanges. Sessions addressed critical issues such as climate change, artificial intelligence, digital innovation, youth employment, mental health and leadership. The programme also included tree planting at local schools, foresight exercises, problem-solving workshops, and a lively cultural gala dinner to close the event.For the school’s head leaders, the dialogue offered invaluable lessons on decision-making and the role of young people in shaping the future. Beyond international collaboration and networking, the event underscored the importance of youth empowerment as a driver of sustainable change.
