Entrepreneurship Day a success
JG van der Wath Secondary School held its annual Entrepreneurship Day, where grade nine learners had the opportunity to start and run their own businesses.
The event was a huge success, with learners selling a variety of items - including burgers, hot dogs, cakes, cupcakes, muffins and more. This event has been long-awaited, not only by our future entrepreneurs but the whole school, as this has been a part of JG’s culture for many years.
The Entrepreneurship Day is a great way for learners to learn about the basics of business, such as marketing, sales and customer service. It also teaches them important life skills, such as teamwork, problem-solving and financial responsibility.
Learners began planning for their business’ weeks in advance, coming up with creative ideas and marketing strategies. They also had to source their own supplies and equipment, and design the image of their business.
On the day of the event, learners arrived early to set up their booths and start selling. They were excited to share their products with the school community, and they worked hard to promote their businesses.
The learners' hard work paid off, as the day was a huge success. Learners sold out of many of their items, and they made a significant profit.
In addition to financial success, the Entrepreneurship Day was also a valuable learning experience for learners. They gained valuable insights into the world of business, and learnt how to overcome challenges and achieve their goals.
