Duneside gymnasts shine at national championships
Four talented gymnasts from Duneside High School have brought pride to their school with exceptional performances and outstanding achievements at the 2025 National Gymnastics Championships. Their dedication, perseverance and passion for the sport have paid off, earning them national recognition and multiple medals across various categories.
Nylah Muller delivered a superb performance at the Senior National Championships, securing four silver medals - second place in Ball, Clubs, Hoop, and Overall. Reflecting on her success, Nylah said: “What I’ve learned is that if you push yourself, you really can achieve great results.” Her advice to aspiring athletes: “Set your sights on your goals and work hard to achieve them. The only way to improve is to never give up.”
Emma Iyambo represented Duneside with pride at the South African National Gymnastics Championships in Durban, held from 4 to 10 October 2025, where she won silver in Free Dance (Level 5) and Hoop. “When I first stepped onto the floor, I was nervous, but after my first routine, I felt much more confident,” Emma said. “I learned that you must always try your very best no matter what.” Her message to others: “You’re not just learning skills; you’re building courage, discipline and confidence.”
Angodene Titus competed on 17 October 2025, showing remarkable determination despite an injury. Her perseverance earned her four bronze medals; for Ball, Hoop, Clubs, and Overall. “It was challenging, but I gave my all,” she said. Angodene encouraged fellow athletes: “Work hard, do your best, and remember that hard work really does pay off. Don’t give up when things get tough.”
