Concordia prize-giving
They say hard work pays off
Concordia College rewarded its hard-working learners at the school's annual prize-giving ceremony, which was held on 6 April. The prize-giving was to acknowledge the learners who achieved exceptional results in the 2022 academic year and let them know that whatever effort they put in paid off.
The event started off with the teachers walking in wearing their glamorous graduation gowns. This inspired the learners and allowed them to believe that everything is possible. The principal gave a speech on the benefits of education.
Following the speech, the moment all learners were waiting for arrived - the prize-giving.
It started with the grade eight and ended with grade 12s, now known as the Advanced Subsidiary level learners of last year.
Individual prizes were given to the best performing learners in individual subjects, and trophies were given to the top three performers in the various grades. They received gift baskets filled with prizes.
For every grade, some of the learners also received gift certificates from the school's main sponsors, one of them being Westlane Shopping Centre.
Mpoho Lubinda was introduced as dux learner of the year. Her name will forever be remembered because it is now engraved on the trophy like many before her. She got an appreciation gift from the school, which aided in motivating other learners.
The school's award ceremony would not be the same if they did not appreciate sports and social clubs for taking Concordia to greater heights.
To say it was an amazing event is an understatement. Many learners enjoyed the ceremony and are - without a doubt - looking forward to next year’s ceremony.
They pledged to worked hard so they too may take home awards.
