Academia celebrates Vintage Day in style
Academia Secondary School held its annual Vintage Day celebration, an event dedicated to showcasing classic fashion trends and their influence on modern style.
Held every April, Vintage Day encourages learners to express their creativity by reinterpreting retro fashion eras through their personal style. This year’s event featured live performances by learners, including DJ Thexa and Sweet Kid, and was hosted by Chili Bite.
The day was met with great enthusiasm from students, who embraced the opportunity to dress in throwback looks ranging from 90s streetwear to early 2000s Y2K fashion.
“It was nice to see Aaliya’s drip all over the school – it was iconic,” said learner Isabela Tjiho. Another student, Sorisha Afrikaner, added: “I felt like my mum, but in the 90s.”
