Namibia inviting investment
The Namibia-USA business forum is aimed at strengthening existing bilateral relations, while exploring and boosting trade as well as investment opportunities between the two countries.

Namibia continues to be marketed as an investment destination. A US business delegation is on a visit to Namibia to explore opportunities in different sectors of the economy.
Trade and investment opportunities in Namibia lie in agriculture, energy with special focus on renewable energy and green hydrogen, manufacturing such as pharmaceutical as well in the services sectors such as health provision, telecommunications and logistics. These remarks were made by the minister of industrialisation and trade, Lucia Iipumbu, at the Namibia-USA business forum which is aimed at strengthening existing bilateral relations, while exploring and boosting trade as well as investment opportunities between the two countries.
“Namibia needs these economic relations and business affiliations to provide fertile ground not only for foreign direct investment (FDI) but also for it to contribute towards economic development, which includes technological transfer, skills development, value addition and Industrialisation. Namibia is a vast country with enormous natural resources; however, our economy is largely still undiversified and is also yet to tap fully in the area of services trade and investment,” she said.
Namibia is also seeking for market access for local products by expanding the volume of bilateral trade, through the promotion of the country as a gateway, IIpumbu added.
Ease
Ease of doing business is crucial in attracting the necessary investment. The Namibia Investment Promotion and Development Board (NIPDB) CEO Nangula Uaandja briefed the delegation on what their role is in facilitating investment.
NIPDB provides general and specific information, and facilitates exploratory visits, business registration, visas, permits, licences and partnership. She also highlighted why Namibia is an ideal investment.
Namibia enjoys a stable political and economic environment, a conducive investment environment and has a business-friendly regulatory framework.
Namibia enjoyed 33 years of stable democracy and peace, and has an independent judiciary, she said.
Namibia has a well-developed financial and banking sector, having the third largest pension fund industry in Africa
Uaandja further pointed out that Namibia has the necessary infrastructure in place such as the quality roads, sea ports, air transport, ICT, electricity and water supply and sanitation.
