Top-performing Lüderitz-based port users acknowledged
The Namibian Ports Authority (Namport) paid tribute to its Lüderitz-based top-performing port users and stakeholders at its Annual Port Users and Stakeholders Dinner.
The event, themed “Collaborate To Elevate!” took place at the Lüderitz Old Power Station in the harbour town on Friday, 5 December. Ockert Theron, the chairperson of the Lüderitz Port Users Association, commended the port authority for its professionalism. “We receive excellent and world-class service from Namport Lüderitz. Your reliability and ability to keep everything running smoothly are truly commendable. Please keep on doing it. With Namport as a trusted partner, we know the future of our port is bright,” Theron said.
Top performers

Lüderitz Bay Shipping & Forwarding (as a division of Manica Group Namibia), Access World Logistics (Namibia) and Trade Port Investments are the top three volume-based clients at the Port of Lüderitz. The top two SME clients at the Port of Lüderitz are South Point Ship Agents and Namibia Ship Chandlers.
Making it happen
“At first glance, Namport’s influence is measured by the movement of cargo and ships, however, beyond the cranes and containers lies a deeper story, one of a port authority committed to economic growth as well as shared prosperity and inclusive development across Namibia,” emphasised Namport CEO Andrew Kanime. He stated, “For the financial year (FY) 2024/2025 Namport recorded strong performance across all cargo categories. General cargo increased by 13%, while container volumes increased by 33%.”
Kanime added, “Revenue remains strong, supported by increased volumes handled through the ports. Despite increased volumes, costs were generally contained throughout the years, supporting sustainable growth. Our revenue growth continually outstrips local and regional economic growth.” Kanime further indicated that cross-border volumes increased by 19% after a decline in the prior year. “The growth was supported by a recovery in DRC and Botswana cargo on the back of increased outputs from the mines, while Zambia also benefited from strong growth in return cargo. However, volumes from South Africa declined,” he said. The key volume drivers for Namport are nickel, manganese, sulphur, fertiliser, ship spares, cruise lines and vessel calls.
