SanlamAllianz urges rethink on markets

SanlamAllianz has called on investors and financial advisers to reconsider traditional investment strategies as changing economic conditions, geopolitical tensions and shifting market cycles reshape the investment landscape.The call was made at the group's annual Investment Summit, hosted in Windhoek by SanlamAllianz Personal Portfolios (SP²) under the theme When Cycles Break Down: Rethinking Market Playbooks.The summit brought together financial intermediaries and asset managers to discuss the Namibian and global economic outlook, interest-rate cycles, fixed income, equities and portfolio positioning.Erry Iipumbu, junior portfolio manager at SanlamAllianz Investments, said changing market cycles required investors to question established assumptions and look beyond short-term market movements."When market cycles break down, the old playbook does not always give us the answers we need," Iipumbu said."Investors have to be prepared to challenge established assumptions, look beyond short-term market noise and understand where value is emerging."He said economic and geopolitical changes could increase uncertainty while also creating investment opportunities, making diversification and disciplined portfolio management important.The summit also provided a platform for financial advisers to engage directly with asset managers and exchange views on market developments and investment opportunities.André Oberholzer, business development manager at SanlamAllianz Personal Portfolios, said advisers needed access to market insights and industry perspectives as conditions changed more rapidly.He said the summit was intended to strengthen engagement between financial intermediaries and asset managers and support informed investment decisions.SanlamAllianz said assets under management on the SP² platform increased from R17.1 billion to R19.3 billion over the past 12 months.The increase represents growth of about 13% in assets under management during the period.
