Plastic Packaging goes north

Plastic Packaging Namibia has expanded its national distribution network with the opening of a new branch in Oshakati, a move aimed at improving product availability and delivery times across northern Namibia.

The facility, officially inaugurated on 24 July, is located in the Oshakati Industrial Area along Oshikango Road. It comprises approximately 2,100 square metres of warehouse, retail and office space and has been developed as a regional distribution centre serving central and north-western Namibia.

Marking what the company described as a significant milestone in its continued expansion, the new facility reinforces its commitment to customers in northern Namibia.

According to the company, "The investment reflects Plastic Packaging Namibia's confidence in the region's economic growth and its long-term commitment to supporting businesses and communities across northern Namibia."

Plastic Packaging Namibia said the Oshakati branch will increase stockholding capacity and improve logistics, enabling faster deliveries, improved product availability and enhanced customer service across the region.

The facility also includes a dedicated retail outlet, providing customers with access to a comprehensive range of packaging products.

The official inauguration was attended by government leaders, business representatives, customers, suppliers and other invited guests.

Oshakati mayor Leonard Hango delivered the welcoming address, while Plastic Packaging Namibia managing director Nico du Plessis presented an overview of the company's operations and expansion strategy.

Delivering the keynote address, home affairs, immigration, safety and security minister Lucia Iipumbu highlighted the role of private sector investment in regional development, job creation and industrialisation.

Iipumbu was introduced by Oshana governor Hofni Iipinge, while Plastic Packaging Namibia chairman Frank Fredericks delivered the vote of thanks and outlined the company's strategic outlook.

The ceremony concluded with Iipumbu officially cutting the ribbon before guests toured the new facility and attended a networking session.

Plastic Packaging Namibia said the Oshakati branch would provide "improved service levels through increased local stock availability, faster and more efficient product distribution, convenient over-the-counter purchasing through the retail outlet, increased capacity to meet the growing demand for quality packaging solutions, and enhanced logistical support for customers across the region."

The company said the new branch represents another step in its expansion strategy, "while contributing to Namibia's economic growth and industrial development."

Plastic Packaging Namibia added that it would continue investing in infrastructure, technology and people to ensure customers receive "world-class products and service throughout the country."
