Old Mutual Foundation empowers Motor Activity Training Programme

In support of children, especially those who experience learning challenges, the Old Mutual Foundation handed over N$50 000 in sponsorship to the Mainstream Foundation for children. The event, which took place in Katima Mulilo, is aimed at enhancing the Foundation’s Motor Activity Training Programme (MATP), an initiative designed to improve motor skills and physical well-being for children with diverse needs.The sponsorship collaboration was made possible by the managing director of Old Mutual Investment Group, Lionel Kannemeyer as well as the managing director of Old Mutual Corporate Segment, Patricia Olivier, who also serves as the chairperson of Old Mutual Foundation. The donation included mattresses, floor mats, sports and rehabilitation materials and restoration of their garden for improved food security for the children.SupportFounded in 2010, the community-based Mainstream Foundation was established by parents of children living with disabilities to provide emotional, physical, and intellectual support, as well as to encourage self-confidence. The foundation’s Motor Activity Training Programme is designed to promote physical activity, coordination, and independence for children with disabilities, offering them vital tools for rehabilitation and well-being.The support from this sponsorship will not only help expand the programme's capabilities but will also allow for necessary improvements to the foundation’s facilities, ensuring a safer and more comfortable environment for the children they serve.Kannemeyer and Olivier expressed their pride in being able to contribute to such a meaningful cause. “It’s inspiring to see the difference these resources will make in the lives of these children. We hope this contribution helps empower Mainstream Foundation to continue their excellent work and to reach even more children in need.”The handover marks an important step in the ongoing efforts to improve opportunities for children with disabilities in the region.
