Meet the Mahindra Scorpio Lifestyler
Mahindra is taking the lifestyle pickup to a new level with the unveiling of its Global Pik Up, which will be launched in India as the Mahindra Scorpio Lifestyler and marketed as the Mahindra Lifestyler internationally.
First revealed as a concept in Cape Town in August 2023, the new pickup represents a major step in Mahindra’s international growth plans. Designed in Mumbai and developed in Chennai, the Scorpio Lifestyler has been created as a global vehicle, combining rugged capability with technology, comfort and everyday practicality.
The pickup is expected to make its Indian debut by April 2027, while international markets will receive the Mahindra Lifestyler.
Built for more than the workday
Mahindra says the new model has been designed for a new generation of customers who want their vehicles to do more than simply carry a load.
The Scorpio Lifestyler combines a traditional body-on-frame platform with modern technology, safety features and SUV-inspired comfort. Its versatility is central to its appeal, with Mahindra positioning it as a vehicle equally suited to work, weekend adventures and everyday driving.
Dr Velusamy Ramasamy, president of Mahindra & Mahindra’s Automotive Business, said the company wanted to create a global pickup that would raise expectations while retaining Mahindra’s focus on capability and value.
Built on the company’s next-generation body-on-frame architecture, the vehicle has been engineered with capability, durability, safety and refinement in mind.
Three ways to experience the Lifestyler
To highlight the vehicle’s different personalities, Mahindra has unveiled three editions: Valley, Reef and Trail.
The Valley Edition, finished in Artemis Grey, is aimed at drivers who want to balance work and leisure. It combines practicality with a more refined character.
The Reef Edition, finished in Aquareef, takes its inspiration from the ocean and the spirit of exploration. It is designed for customers who are drawn to outdoor adventures and discovering new places.
Then there is the Trail Edition, finished in Sahara Beige. With its bold, adventurous character, it is designed to reflect the go-anywhere spirit of the Scorpio Lifestyler.
Mahindra’s chief design and creative officer, Pratap Bose, said the three editions reflect different ways customers work, play and explore.
He described the vehicle as combining bold exterior styling and plush interiors with SUV-like comfort and the toughness expected from a Mahindra pickup.
A pickup with global ambitions
The Mahindra Lifestyler has been developed from the outset as a global product, with the company targeting the growing midsize lifestyle pickup market.
It is expected to be offered across markets including Australia and New Zealand, South Africa, other African markets, the Middle East and Latin America.
According to Mahindra, the vehicle brings together authentic pickup capability and durability, global engineering and safety standards, advanced technology, premium refinement and versatility for work and leisure.
Nalinikanth Gollagunta, CEO of Mahindra’s Automotive Division, said customers were increasingly looking for vehicles that could offer genuine capability without sacrificing technology, safety, comfort or everyday usability.
As Mahindra prepares for the Scorpio Lifestyler’s arrival, the company is also working to build awareness, expand its network and create an ownership experience suited to the lifestyle pickup market.
With its combination of rugged credentials, modern design and a more lifestyle-focused approach, the Scorpio Lifestyler is shaping up as Mahindra’s latest attempt to make the pickup just as comfortable on a weekend adventure as it is on the working day. - quickpic.co.za
