B2Gold names Roos as Namibia chief

Staff Reporter

B2Gold Namibia has appointed John Roos as its new MD, effective 1 July 2026, as the company continues its drive to place local leaders in senior roles across its operations.

Roos moves up from his most recent position as Country Manager of B2Gold Namibia, where he was responsible for overseeing the finance, corporate social investment, corporate affairs, and government and stakeholder relations functions, while also advancing key organisational initiatives.

In his new role, he will carry responsibility for the overall strategic leadership and performance of the company's Namibian operations, including the Otjikoto gold mine.

He succeeds Bill Lytle, Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of parent company B2Gold Corp., whose tenure is credited with contributing significantly to the development and performance of the Namibian operation.

Board Chairman Dr Leake Hangala welcomed the appointment, saying it reflected Roos's strong leadership and deep understanding of the company's local operations.

"We are confident that under his direction, Otjikoto and our other Namibian business activities will continue to operate safely and efficiently, delivering value for all stakeholders," Hangala said.
